Two more medical centers
VA announced October 26 that its Federal Electronic Health Record system had gone live the preceding Saturday at its Cleveland medical center and Anchorage health-care system. Sixteen associated standalone clinics in Ohio and Alaska were included.
The department says the changes complete its planned 13 hospital deployments for 2026. It reports that more than 163,000 veterans and 7,800 staff are served by the two newly converted locations.
What the rollout establishes
VA describes a system designed to make records easier to share among federal and outside providers. That is the department’s intended benefit, rather than an independent measurement of every patient’s experience after conversion.
The next announced stage is deployment to 26 additional medical centers in 2027. Patients should use their own facility’s current instructions for appointment, prescription and portal questions. Our assessment: successful operation after launch and the handling of patient problems will be as important as the deployment count.
