A way into the history
VA announced the annual guide on November 2 in partnership with the Veterans Day National Committee. It pairs the history of the observance with lessons on military service and citizenship that educators can adapt for different ages.
A question for the classroom
Ask students what they would like to learn about one job in uniform. A question about an ordinary workday gives a visiting veteran room to discuss training, colleagues or a skill carried into civilian life. The class can then connect that experience to the larger history in the guide.
