Training the headquarters

U.S. Army Europe and Africa announced the conclusion of Avenger Triad 26 on October 15. The command-post exercise ran October 6–15 and involved about 2,000 U.S. personnel and 2,000 multinational participants, the Army said.

Command posts in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland worked through simulated operations. The event was linked with NATO’s Steadfast Duel exercise, connecting decision-makers at different levels of the alliance.

Beyond a shared vocabulary

Headquarters exercises examine how information, decisions and support move between organizations. Partners need more than compatible equipment: they also need workable procedures, clear responsibilities and a common understanding of the situation.

The event’s completion is a training milestone, not proof that every coordination problem has been solved. The more informative follow-up will be what participants change after reviewing their performance. For readers, the central point is that collective defense depends on rehearsed relationships as well as the forces assigned to it.
