Improving the spaces behind care
VA Memphis reported October 26 that it is advancing $8.3 million in infrastructure projects funded during the third quarter of fiscal 2026. The work includes roofs, imaging-space preparation and renovations supporting nutrition services.
About $6.17 million is assigned to roof replacement on four buildings. The system expects that work to finish by the end of fiscal 2027. Imaging-space preparation has a fiscal 2028 target, while the nutrition renovation is expected in fiscal 2029. Imaging equipment is funded separately.
Another investment nears use
The same report says a new clinical laboratory is undergoing final testing and is expected to open within 30 days. That is a projected opening, not a confirmed operational milestone.
Our assessment: facility maintenance is part of clinical capacity, because leaks and unsuitable spaces can interrupt care. The dates make clear that the announcement combines near-term laboratory preparation with projects extending over several years.
