A link between two working lives
Army Reserve ambassadors Kurt Hardin and Johnathan Pan met with the 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Marysville, Washington, on October 22, according to an Army profile published October 29. The report examines how ambassadors connect units and families with civic organizations, businesses and other resources.
Ambassadors are appointed by the chief of Army Reserve and serve as special government employees. Their community relationships can provide continuity as military command teams change.
Finding the right resource
The profile describes assistance with family questions, educational opportunities and introductions to people with relevant expertise. It also identifies Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve as a resource for employment-related concerns.
Our assessment is that the program addresses a practical feature of Reserve life: soldiers often live and work away from major installations. A useful local contact can help them find the appropriate organization. An introduction does not itself guarantee a scholarship, job or favorable outcome; decisions remain with the responsible program or agency.
